Curtis Humphrey (b. 1907) grew up in Dirgin, Texas, in Rusk County. After working as a farmer and doing odd jobs in East Texas, he moved to Fort Worth in 1932, where he learned photography from two white photographers, Harry Berkman and Harry Garonzik. Humphrey taught photography at Wiley College in Marshall and Texas College in Tyler in the late 1940s. Shot on location in Tyler, Texas.
